Clients Sue Lawyer in FenPhen Class Action
HOUSTON (CN) - Three plaintiffs in a FenPhen drug liability class action say their law firm overcharged clients, taking more than $29 million for heart tests it performed on "tens of thousands" of potential clients who did not even join in the lawsuit. The three women sued George Fleming and Fleming & Associates in Harris County Court.

Former lawyer wants Fen-Phen appeal heard
A former attorney has asked a judge to throw out his federal conviction for swindling a pharmaceutical company out of millions over the diet drug Fen-Phen.
Robert Arledge was convicted in 2007 and sentenced to six years for his role in the scheme, which netted more than $6 million from the drug company Wyeth. The U.S. Supreme Court denied his appeal in 2009.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The number of federal crime victims identified by the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) in the Eastern District of Kentucky continues to grow.

Today is the deadline for the 6 million people who took the fen- phen diet drug combination--which has been linked to serious heart problems--to drop out of a $3.75-billion national settlement with the pill's maker.
The 6,000 fen-phen lawsuits, and the possibility that the settlement may fall apart, have hurt the company's ability to find a merger partner, analysts say. Madison, N.J.-based American Home lost its bid to buy rival Warner-Lambert Co. in part because uncertainty surrounding the diet drug litigation pummeled its stock.

An Atlanta jury ruled Wednesday drugmaker Wyeth (WYE) was not responsible for health problems alleged by a woman who used one of the company's diet drugs, part of the banned fen-phen combination. Wyeth's stock price jumped on the news.

Damages Awarded in Fen-Phen Case
COQUILLE, Ore., June 27— An Oregon jury said today that the American Home Products Corporation should pay $29.2 million to a man and his mother who contended the company's withdrawn diet drugs damaged their hearts.
